Lane does extensive research for his paintings, using museum ship models, old photographs from museum archives, and actual blueprints of the boats themselves. Fifteen years ago, he started building wooden ship models from scratch so he could understand the construction of the boats and the mechanics of the rigging.

Though he started out using pen and ink, Ken's discovery of the oil on canvas medium lead him to pursue a career as a boat portraitist. As his skill with the new medium developed, the boats themselves began to feature less and less prominently in his work, with the focus turning towards the sea itself.

Over 30 years Taylor has worked on a wide variety of projects. Taylor has concentrated on illustration assignments for national corporate & publishing clients and museums. Taylor has created paintings for the National Law Enforcement Officers’ Memorial & the U.S. Navy Memorial, and artwork for several Broadway Shows.

Born in Seoul South Korea in 1949, Mario Jung's path to his career as an artist has been circuitous and fraught with setbacks. Despite this, or perhaps even because of it, his works radiate a sense of positivity and joy.
