John Ricciardi

John A. Ricciardi was born and raised surrounded by the enchantment of the rolling hills and rocky coastlines of New England. Inspired by the beauty around him, John was always sketching what he saw, but did not pick up a brush until later in life. John is a self taught artist, constantly honing his craft through years of putting brush to canvas, taking workshops with notable artists, studying a variety of art books, and viewing countless videos of artist techniques.

Painting en plein air and in the studio John works with oils and acrylics to capture seascapes and landscapes ranging from catboats in harbors along the Cape to the snow covered Green Mountain peaks of Vermont. With each scene John uses brushes and palette knives to evoke the calmness of the surroundings, bringing the viewer into the painting to experience the serene New England charm.

John’s paintings have been shown in galleries on both the Cape and Islands and are held in many private collections both in the U.S and abroad. John participates annually in the Cahoon Museum Brush Off in Barnstable, MA, as well as a myriad of other plein air events as a juried artist.
